Stephen focused on building from the basics up, and through understanding the simplest aspects of each topic, I gained a deeper and better understanding of my whole course. Stephen was my personal tutor throughout 6th form, also teaching some of my maths classes and running a programme over the lunch break to help students prepare for Maths-based university entrance exams (i.e. STEP or the MAT).
Thanks to his help and guidance, I secured an offer for Computer Science with Maths at Cambridge and after achieving A*s in Maths and Further Maths (with a full UMS score in the C3 module he taught in Year 12) and grade 2 in STEP II & III. I am now in my third year of study.
Stephen’s style of teaching really suited me and very much shaped the way I look at and approach mathematical problems to this day, with a focus on understanding the nature of a problem rather than trying to remember which memorised technique to use.

Also I apologise about the STEP grades; I think I was a few marks off a 1 in both!
